The Great Commission
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; andlo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.
[Matthew 28:19-20 - NKJV]
Friends and Partners,
In the last 2 ½ years we have been in Hungary, Romania, Spain, Honduras, and 5 times in Ethiopia. Once you travel to other countries and see the great need and spiritual hunger among the people, it marks your heart forever. As we have gone to these different nations, a statement made by John Piper really became real to me. He said, You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving. People, who never leave the United States, often do not realize how big God's world is. I am not talking about the mountains, the rivers, the forests, the palaces and the towers but the people that Jesus died for on the cross. Not everyone can or will go to other nations, but we cannot forget that only 4.52% of the world lives in the United States. The Great Commission reveals God's heart for whole world. As the Great Commission in God's Word becomes the Great Commitment in our hearts, we are faced with three choices which John Piper so clearly declares in his statement: Go, send, or disobey.
The Word of the King
1 Arise, shine;
For your light has come!
And the glory of the LORD is risen
upon you.
2 For behold, the darkness shall cover
the earth, and deep darkness the
people; but the LORD will arise over
you, and His glory will be seen upon
you.
3 The Gentiles shall come to your light,
And kings to the brightness of your
rising.
4 Lift up your eyes all around, and see:
They all gather together, they come to
you; your sons shall come from afar,
and your daughters shall be nursed at
your side.
5 Then you shall see and become
radiant, and your heart shall swell with
joy; because the abundance of the sea
shall be turned to you, the wealth of
the Gentiles shall come to you.
(Isaiah 60:1-5 - NKJV)
